About Steve

Steve Tarmey is a Principal Architect at MILL5, where he applies decades of hands-on engineering experience to design and deliver advanced software solutions for enterprise clients. Known for his ability to align technology decisions with business needs, Steve drives architectural direction, mentors engineering teams, and ensures the products he helps build are secure, scalable, and ready for real-world demands.

Before joining MILL5, Steve served as Chief Architect at Johnson Controls, where he led the design and development of a microservice-based software platform. His earlier career includes pivotal technical roles at Tyco Security Products—where he guided the creation of a high-performance event management system—and Simplex Time Recorder, where he developed access control software used broadly across commercial and institutional environments. Across every role, Steve has built a reputation for strong technical leadership, innovative thinking, and a commitment to engineering excellence.

Steve holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He remains passionate about emerging technologies, hands-on software craftsmanship, and fostering a culture where engineering teams are empowered to create solutions that make a meaningful impact.
